Guardamar Del Sergura

Guardamar is a typically Spanish town located next to the mouth of the River Segura. Guardamar overlooks an 11km of long sandy beaches that are bordered by a large expense of sand dunes covered with pine trees and eucalyptus.

The promenade is quite short in comparison to the length of the beaches, and it is packed with cafes and restaurants that are busy all year round.

Shops are found on both sides of the long high street, and there is a modern central plaza that houses the town hall, church and tourist office. Every Wednesday morning there is a busy street market behind the church.

Guardamar has two beautiful parks; the Alfonso and the Renia Sofia, the pine trees and sand dunes connect the town to the marina. The Reina Sofia park has something for everyone to enjoy, rolling grass hills, man made rivers and pools, an abundant wildlife that include peacocks, duck and terrapins, and a floodlight playground area.

During the summer the children’s funfair and night market is close to Renia Sofia Park.

There are a number of festivals during the year, including the Moors & Christians in late July, Hogueras bonfires for the summer solstice, and many tapas routes that you can enjoy.
